Animal Crossing @ the Fukuoka City Museum Original My Design QR Codes

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, museums all over the world have to close without any certainty as to their reopening dates.

For the past months, we  have made our museum available to you right in your own home.  Technology has made it possible for you to explore the museum from the comforts of your bedroom or living room through our Social Network Sites and Homepage.    Please check out our website, "Fukuoka Museum at Home."

Moreover, Nintendo popular game "Animal Crossing" recently held an event commemorating the International Museum Day.

We have made some My Design that can be used in Animal Crossings, as follows:

【National Treasure: The Gold Seal】

Side image and seal bottom image

The Gold Seal is one of the most popular Japanese treasures that appear in textbooks.

The seal’s bottom face is small with a size of 2.3 square centimetres. The seal is made of 95% pure gold and weighs 108g.

In 57 AD, the seal was bestowed to the king of the Na Province by the Emperor Guangu of the later Han Dynasty.

*The Gold Seal is on permanent exhibition at the Fukuoka City Museum.

【Mother-of-Pearl works on the Nihongo Spear】

This image is a close-up of the Nihongo-spear’s hand grip.

The length of the spear head is 79.2 cm. The whole length of the spear including its hand-grip is 321.5 cm.

The Nihongo Spear is famous for being mentioned in the Fukuoka folk song “Kuroda Bushi"

【Sword mounting of the Hesihikiri Hasebe, National Treasure】

The image is a close-up of the sheath of the Sword “Heshikiri-Hasebe” (National Treasure).

The sword mounting is said to be made after the mounting on the Sword Atakigiri, an important cultural asset.

The word "mounting" refers to the whole outer covering of the sword which includes the sheath and the handguard.

【Nou Mask: Hannya】

This is a Nou Mask made in the 17th century.

This mask is mainly used for the stage role of a monstrous woman, or a woman turned into a monster due to tremendous anger or a resentment.

【Ichinotani Clif Shaped Helmet】

This is an image of a helmet of Kuroda Nagamasa, the first lord of the Fukuoka Clan. It is an important cultural asset.

The helmet is shaped like a steep hill. The hill, known as Ichino Tani, is where Minamotono Yoshitsune , a young general, ran bravely down on a surprise attack at the battle of Ichinotani.

The surface of the helmet is silver-coated, but turned black-like in color due to oxidation. The helmet was considered to be worn by Nagamasa in the battle of Sekigahara in 1600.

If you can find interesting ways to use our designs, please post the image by adding the hashtag #fukuokacitymuseum !
