Our national treasure, a sword named Heshikiri Hasebe, will be on display from Thursday January 5th to February 5th. The sword has been very popular for having been owned by famous feudal lords like Oda Nobunaga and Kuroda Kanbei. However, the recent burst of popularity resulted from an appearance of a character called “Heshikiri- Hasebe” , from “刀剣乱舞-ONLINE(Touken Ranbu Online.)” At our latest display of the sword in January 2016, around 18,000 guests visited the museum to see it. This time, we will be collaborating with the game to provide more entertainment to our guests!
Here come the “Token-Danshi”!
During the showing period, we will be opening a special photo booth at the grand hall on 1st floor. There, a Nihon-gou replica, which is to scale to the real thing, will be displayed. The replica is ok to touch or hold. *To preserve the replica, we will be limiting access time to the replica. Please refer to the schedule posted on the Fukuoka City Museum’s website. We will be also showing life-sized images of Heshikiri Hasebe and Nihon-gou’s respective characters at the grand hall. The images will also be displayed at four other locations within Fukuoka City. These life-sized figures of the “Touken-danshi” have been received well by devotees of the game.
Inside the museum, we will be distributing leaflets showing the locations of the life-sized character images around the city. Let’s go meet the “Touken danshi” with the help of the map!
Try your luck by drawing a “Fuku mikuji” fortune slip!
Try out the Fuku mikuji fortune slips at the grand hall. All the messages written on the slips are related to objects or exhibition at the Fukuoka City Museum. What’s your outlook for this year? Draw fuku mikuji and have a meaningful New Year! (100 yen per pop, with twelve possible results. *Profits from the fortunes will be donated to fund the restoration of Fukuoka Castle.)

Hi! Are the swords in permanent exhibition or are they displayed during a certain period only? We are visiting Fukuoka soon and will be going to the museum too, and we are curious if the swords will be exhibited as well. Thank you!
