Are you a collector of something? I'm not, but I kind of understand what urges collectors to gather a lot of the same things. If you like something bad enough, you’d want to own a lot of them.
In that sense, I believe that we all have collector’s mind deep inside of us.
This exhibition can be a rare opportunity to wake up a collector’s mind inside of you!
This exhibition is actually, the second edition of a series of themed exhibitions entitled “The Things Left En Masse”. So let see what collectors left en masse!
Let me describe the right process to fully enjoy this exhibition. First things first, please appreciate the volume of the collection. If you can’t help oohing, let it out! Then, please view each item closely. You’ll notice how they are different even though they look all the same when you see them as a whole. If you can find your favorite one, you are already a master of this exhibition!
I think you may find it difficult. Let me give you some examples.
Wooden Bullfinches “Kiuso”
The caption explains more about Kiuso. It says, “This doll is originally from Dazaifu district, where the Dazaifu Shrine is located. On January 7, visitors of the Shrine exchange “Kiuso” dolls with each other in the dark. Rumors say that the one who gets a golden “kiuso” will be granted good luck. Because of this tradition, this doll became popular in Japan as a folk toy. Oh! It is a lucky charm!
Enjoy the full volume of the collection! Say, “Ooh!!”
There is one that is really gorgeous! It might be expensive!
Please look at the collection in detail, to find your favorite. I like these two funny-faced dolls! Wait a minute, are'nt they the golden ones mentioned in the article?
In this exhibition, you can enjoy both the volume and the beauty of Japanese traditional handcrafted art! The exhibition will be open until June 11. Don't miss it!
