Fukuoka Museum Week is an annual event which is held every May 18 in commemoration of the “International Museum Day”.
It will start from May 12 this year and will last until May 20. During this period, 19 museums and facilities located in Fukuoka City will provide rare opportunities for visitors to enjoy the exhibits at a very low price or even free!
Here are things that the Fukuoka City Museum has to offer during the museum week:
- You can enter our museum’s permanent and feature exhibition rooms for free!
- You can receive 200 yen discount on our special exhibition entitled, “Leonard da Vinci and the Battle of Anghiari”. Just present the “Fukuoka Museum Week leaflet” at the ticket counter to avail of the discount. If you are a foreign visitor, you can receive the same discount by presenting your passport or ID.

Dancing Samurai Robot Performance

Do you know a legendary spear called “Nihon gou?” The spear is one of the best spears in Japan, and you can see it in our feature exhibition room. During the museum week, you can see it for free! The spear is said to have been bestowed to a samurai as a reward for drinking a gigantic vessel full of sake. Groove to the beat with the samurai robot as he dances to a song that was created based on this anecdote.
The Golden Seal Experience

In this event, we invite you to experience how the golden seal was used in ancient times. Limited for the first 100 participants only. First come, first serve. Be at Grand Hall located on the first floor.
