Our proud national treasure, a sword named Heshikiri Hasebe(へし切長谷部), made an appearance in a movie called “Japanese Swords: The World of Swords.”

We’ve seldom mentioned the sword Heshikiri Hasebe(へし切長谷部) in our blog. I’d like to use this opportunity to share a bit about the sword with you.

As you may already know, our national treasure of a sword, Heshikiri Hasebe, is now in a movie!
You can take a peek at the trailer here.

The actual sword itself will be exhibited from January 5th to February 5th. Do you think you can wait? If it feels too far away, how about you check out the movie for now?

Or, you may want to come see another great sword of Nagamasa Kuroda’s that is currently being exhibited in our feature exhibition, from June 7th to July 3rd.  The name of the sword is Kii Kanemitsu. (城井兼光). Kii(城井) is the surname of a person who was killed by using this sword, and Kanemitsu(兼光) is the name of the swordsmith who crafted it.

Kii Kanemitsu(城井兼光)

We are waiting for you!
