The vicinity of the Fukuoka City Museum is now extremely cold due to the cold wave that hit the area for the first time in several years. It snowed intermittently the whole day yesterday (January 8th), and there was a good amount of snow in the museum’s front yard for our neighbors to play in.
And when I looked out from the window today (January 9th), I realized, “Wow, half of the pond turned white!”
Yes, the southern half of the pond, (the part closer to the main road), looked white!
So, I approached the pond and picked up one of the pieces of ice from the edge of the pond.
The ice was nearly 1 cm at its thickest.
I took this photo at around 10am. The pond must have been entirely coated in ice in the early morning!
